Instructions on how to upgrade your Award Software BIOS

Follow the steps below to upgrade your AwardBIOS™ on a Niagara Technology system board.

Please NOTE: DO NOT interrupt the bios flash utility during the flashing period! If this process is interrupted, your system will no longer be usable. A new bios chip will have to be installed.

BIOS FLASHING PROCEEDURE:

1. Download the Award Software Flash Upgrade Utility (awdflash.exe)

2. Download the BIOS file used by your motherboard (****.bin)

3. Copy the flash utility and *.bin files to a bootable floppy. Booting from a floppy ensures any programs that may conflict with the flash utility are not loaded.

   How to make a bootable floppy:
   From DOS: at the prompt type: format a: /s
   From Windows: under the format option select: "copy system files only"

4. To start the flash utility type the follow at the prompt: awdflash [filename.bin]

5. When this message displays: "Do you want to save BIOS (Y/N)?"
   Type "Y" to save current bios. Save the current bios as "biosold.bin"
   Type "N" if you do not want to save bios.

6. When this message displays: "Are you sure to program (Y/N)?"
   Type "Y". Otherwise type "N".
   Do not interrupt the program until the process has completed!

7. Restart your computer when the flashing process has
   completed.
